Human Heart Nature Haul + Evening Skincare Routine

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

Migrating this blog from my old website. Throwback to when I shifted to "goodness" featuring my skin care haul from Human Heart Nature.

Please note that I have combination skin type. But fret not,I’ve mentioned some products for other skin types as well.

STEP 1: Remove makeup a.k.a. unmasking

Start with a clean slate. Some prefer micellar waters, some prefer oils. I love using oil-based makeup removers because I find them better in removing stubborn waterproof eye mascaras, which I wear every single day.

TIP: To remove mascara without rubbing the eyes (which is a no-no), soak cotton pad and press onto your eyelids. Let it stay for around a minute to soften or break your mascara. Keep pressing to encourage makeup transfer to the cotton pad.

True to its name, the Gentle Cleansing Oil Makeup Remover (PHP 225), effectively removes any masking dirt, oil, and makeup without harming the skin. I like that even though it’s oil-based, I don’t feel too oily after use and removing the excess oils aren’t an issue.

STEP 2: Use Facial Wash, not water, not soap.

I wash my face twice a day. Facial wash, which has lower pH level compared to soaps, gently removes deep-seated dirt that probably might be hiding under my makeup, in my pores.

TIP: Wet face with warm water to open pores. Massage product (facial wash or scrub) in circular motion. Rinse, then repeat.  Rinse face with cold water to tighten pores.

The Balancing Facial Wash (79.75 50ml), formulated for oily to combination skin, has mild citrus scent and has gentle microbeads. It effectively controls oil, without drying the other parts of my combi face.

FOR Dry skin, use Hydrating Cream Wash.

FOR Normal skin, use Nourishing Facial Wash

STEP 2.5: Face Mask and Facial Scrub

With the entire craze on Korean masks, this is easily my all-time favorite skin care product. I use masks 2-3 times a week, or when needed (like everyday). I read somewhere that they “force the skin to absorb the nutrients better”. So with the right face mask, you can achieve your beauty goals faster.

I alternate using masks and scrubs. I use facial scrubs 1-2 times a week. Using a facial scrub instantly brightens skin, as it gently exfoliate, and remove dead skin and deep-seated dirt.

The Detoxifying Mask + Scrub (PHP 249.75) actually makes this step convenient, and cheaper.

STEP 3: Toner to Tonest

Toners cleanse skin further, and prepare it for easy absorption of moisturizers and other treatments.  Like your facial wash, toners have different variants made for specific skin issues. Toners, in general, are water-based so it can easily penetrate your pores, removing hard to reach dirt left behind by the wash. It can also help in balancing your normal skin’s pH.

TIP: Use alcohol-free toners to avoid drying, and damaging your skin.

What I like about the Balancing Face Toner (PHP 99.75 100ml), formulated for oily to combination skin, is that I can feel it working without the sting and redness, which I usually get from chemical toners.

FOR Dry skin, use Hydrating Face Toner.

FOR Normal skin, use Nourishing Facial Toner

STEP 4: Let your lips do the talking lol

Don’t forget your lips. It’s still part of your face, and an important one. Use a lip scrub to buff dry lips. Then, lock in moisture using a lip balm.

Stay Calm! The Human Heart Nature Natural Lip Scrub (PHP195) uses sugar to exfoliate, and sunflower oil, jojoba oil and beeswax to moisturize.

STEP 5: Moisturize

Finally, the last step. This applies to all skin types. Yes, ALL. Moisturizers hydrate your skin making it look visibly younger, and help keep balance your oil-production. I use the Sunflower Beauty Oil (PHP 174.75) as a moisturizer, though it’s more like an essence, but works for me. A “bestseller and cult classic”, I agree that this is a miracle in a bottle. Read here to know its 23 benefits.

TIP: Use facial creams to lock in nourishment, and eye creams for targeted eye concerns.

FOR Oily skin types, use Lightweight, water-based, oil-free moisturizers to avoid clogging your pores.
